Free CV Template

Having a great template to use can make your CV really stand out. I have worked with Word now for nearly 20 years and have great formatting skills.

I have created 5 professional looking templates that will ensure that your CV looks great.

Now I understand that if you are unemployed and looking for work you want to spend as little money as possible to get your CV done. Each job you apply for should have a CV tailored towards that job. This could really become expensive.

By purchasing these 5 great templates you can change them each time you apply for a different job.

For only £4.97 you can have 5 professional templates to use:

If you are only looking for a simple format here is a free simple CV template you can use.

Good luck.

Top 10 mistakes to avoid on your CV

1. Lying or exaggerating

This is what I would class as the biggest mistake anyone could make on their resume.

It is a sack able offence if it is discovered that you have lied on your CV.

It really isn’t worth the risk.

2. No cover letter

You should always include a cover letter to go with your resume.

You can express your motivation and why you would be a good candidate for that particular job.

3. Inappropriate Font

Ensure the font is large enough to read. I suggest at least an 11pt font. The headings for each section should be in a larger font so they stand out.

Use a standard font like Arial or Times New Roman that is easy to read.

4. Non-professional email address

Using your student email address or one that contains a nickname will not look professional.

Set up a new email address which includes your full name and use it when applying for a job.

5. Too much Personal Information

Don’t include too much personal information. Keep it limited to the contact details and name.

6. No personal profile

It is highly recommended to have a strong summary/synopsis of your career. This should go after your name and contact details on the first page of your CV. It sums up your career history including areas of expertise, key skills and your motivations.

7. Using an out of date resume

Your CV should be kept up to date. Ensure you explain any gaps in your employment e.g. maternity leave.

8. Writing in the first person (using ‘I’ and ‘my’ etc)

It will not sound professional in your CV to use ‘I’ and ‘my’. It is fine to use the first person in your covering letter.

9. Using ‘Curriculum Vitae’ as a heading

It is obvious what the document is and there is no need to use ‘Curriculum Vitae’. Use your name as the head instead, centred and in bold capitals for real impact.

10. Spelling or grammar errors

Have your CV proof read by a professional. If you can’t afford that then ask a friend or member of the family to check your resume.

Ensure that you are not making the errors above and you should be on the way to having a CV that stands out. If you are in need of some help contact Help on Tap and we will give you a no obligation quote.
